The new redundancy module SITOP PSE202U NEC class 2 (6EP1962-2BA00) is released for delivery ex delivery center Nuernberg.

Internet document Summary

The redundancy module SITOP PSE202U NEC class 2 (6EP1962-2BA00) for DIN rail mounting is an expansion module for output power limitation to 100 VA according to NEC class 2. It is used for setting up a 24 V power supply with redundancy for a NEC class 2 circuit, in combination with two regulated 24 V load power supplies. In case of failure of one power supply the load is supplied by the remaining second power supply.

Function
The redundancy module SITOP PSE202U NEC class 2 limits the output power to 100 VA max. according to NEC class 2.
It is used for setting up a 24 V power supply according NEC class 2 with redundancy, in combination with two regulated 24 V load power supplies (variant 1). In case of failure of one power supply the load is supplied by the remaining second power supply.
It is possible to use SITOP power supplies from 5 A to 40 A rated output current. Several redundancy modules can be connected to one power supply pair. For compliance of the outputs with NEC class 2 the feeding SITOP power supplies must be certified according to UL 60950.
The redundancy modules SITOP PSE202U NEC class 2 can also be used for setting up 24 V power supply without redundancy (variant 2). In this way several NEC class 2 circuits can be realized with one power supply. For compliance of the outputs with NEC class 2 the feeding power supplies must be certified according to UL 60950.

The correct operation of the feeding power supplies is monitored by SITOP PSE202U and signalized via a green LED. Additionally, this signal can be analysed via a potential-free relay contact. The failure of a power supply can be recognized safely and repaired without affecting the 24 V power supply.
If a load above 100 VA permitted according to NEC class 2 is applied at the output, latching shutdown follows. Shutdown of the output is identified via a red LED and a potential-free relay contact. Re-start is realized with button RST or by switching off and on again of the load power supply.

Wiring

  • Variant 1: Set up NEC class 2 circuit with redundancy
The SITOP power supplies are connected in parallel via the redundancy module. Inputs "IN 24V 1" and "IN 24V 2" of the redundancy module have to be connected with outputs "+" of the supplying power supplies and input "GND" of the redundancy module with outputs "-" of the supplying power supplies. Output "OUT 24V" has to be connected with the load (see picture 1).

  • Variant 2: Set up NEC class 2 circuit without redundancy
Installation without redundancy is also possible. Both inputs "IN 24V 1" and "IN 24V 2" of the redundancy module have to be connected with outputs "+" of the supplying power supplies and input "GND" of the redundancy module with outputs "-" of the supplying power supplies. Output "OUT 24V" has to be connected with the load (see picture 2).

Product description
Ÿ limitation of output power to max. 100 VA according to NEC class 2
Ÿ suitable for setting up a 24 V supply with redundancy for NEC class 2 circuits
Ÿ operating display LED green for signalization "input 1, input 2 and output o.k."
Ÿ potential-free relay contact (changeover contact) for signalization "input 1, input 2 and output o.k."
Ÿ switching threshold LED and relay settable in the range of 20 ... 25 V (= input of the redundancy module)
Ÿ if one of the inputs falls below the threshold or the output limitation acc. to NEC class 2 is exceeded, the relay switches, the signaling contact opens, and the LED lights up red
Ÿ low width of 30 mm
Ÿ operating temperature range -20 °C up to 70 °C
Ÿ CE marking; UL/cUL approval

Customer benefits
Ÿ set-up of a 24 V supply with redundancy for NEC class 2 circuits, i.e. reliable supply guaranteed, even in the event of failure of a power supply
Ÿ latching shutdown if the maximum load of 100 VA permitted by NEC class 2 is exceeded
Ÿ safe and fast recognition if the maximum load according to NEC class 2 is exceeded, via relay contact and LED
Ÿ safe and fast recognition of a defect power supply via relay contact and LED
Ÿ can be connected to SITOP power supplies 5 - 40 A with DC 24 V output voltage
Ÿ flexible expansion of existing applications
Ÿ space-saving due to slim design and therefore especially suited for switching boxes, control panels and wall enclosures
Ÿ time- and cost-saving due to user-friendly and effective connection technology via plug-in terminals
Ÿ connection technology with high flexibility – delivery state with screw terminals – spring-loaded terminals available as accessories
Ÿ wide operating temperature range -20 °C up to +70 °C
