Description You have opened a V11 project with WinCC V12.0 and upgraded it to a WinCC V12.0 project by means of the menu "Project > Upgrade".
You project is a complete WinCC V12.0 project. The configured devices however remain in the WinCC V11 state so that there is no need to upgrade all the already configured devices when using the new version of the Engineering System. In this state you cannot use any WinCC V12.0 functions. This might manifest itself as follows.
It is not possible to configure the connection to the S7-1500.
You cannot configure the new System Diagnostics Viewer.
Remedy Change the operating panel using "Change Device/Version". Keep the operator panel type as shown in the figure below. Then all the V12.0 functions are available for the operator panel.
Fig. 01
In the case of projects for WinCC Runtime Advanced you must then install Runtime Advanced V12.0 on the target device. In the case of operator panels, when you transfer the configuration, the operator panel image of WinCC V12.0 is also transferred automatically.
Go to the following link to the manual for device upgrading.
WinCC Advanced V12.0 (01/2013) > Visualizing processes (Comfort/Advanced) > Communicating with controllers > Replace device > Example: Change device > Example: Change device
How do you do a program upload in STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V12 when the device has been configured withSTEP 7 V11?
Description
The "Compatibility Mode V11" must be opened if a program upload of a device configured with STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V11 (a SIMATIC controller or an SIMATIC HMI, for example) is to be made in STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V12. However, this is only possible if a STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V11 project is open.
For the case that you do not have a STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V11 project, we have included an empty STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V11 project for downloading in this FAQ response.
Download The download contains the "compatibility_mode_V11_V12.zip" project.
Copy the "compatibility_mode_V11_V12.zip" file into a separate directory and then start the file with a double-click. You can then use STEP 7 to open and process the extracted project data.
Description This entry shows one option for migrating a WinCC flexible 2008 SP3 project to WinCC (TIA Portal)V11 SP2 in a 64-bit operating system.
Instructions
Install Update 3 for WinCC V11 SP2. Update 3 enables you to migrate a WinCC flexible 2008 SP3 project directly to WinCC V11 SP2.
More information about Update 3 for WinCC V11 SP2 is available in Entry ID: 58112582.

Migration of a project integrated in STEP 7 from WinCC flexible to WinCC (TIA Portal)?
Task
You have configured an MP 277 Touch with multiple screens. A TP1200 Comfort Panel is to be added to this configuration.
The screens of the MP 277 Touch are to be adopted by the new operator panel.
WinCC (TIA Portal) provides the option of using "Drag & Drop" or "Copy & Paste" to transfer screens from one operator panel into another.
Prior to copying you should check the settings for resizing screens and objects. This resizing is important in particular when the operator panels have different display resolutions.
In this example, the MP 277 Touch has a resolution of 640 x 480 and the TP1200 Comfort a resolution of 1280 x 800.
In advance you can define how the contents of the project screens are tp be resized and applied upon transfer.
For this, in WinCC (TIA Portal), you select the menu command "Options > Settings".
Under the "Visualization > Resize screen" item you can define various options (see figure below).
Fig. 01
A detailed description of the effect of the different settings on the operator panel is given in the document "Migration guidelines for Comfort Panels", section 3.3 (Change Screen from 4:3 to Wide Screen).

Description
Unlike a project-specific WinCC flexible library, you cannot migrate global libraries directly from WinCC flexible to WinCC (TIA Portal).
Information on the topic of libraries:
Project library
The project library is stored together with the project in which it was created. In this way a project library is migrated automatically to WinCC (TIA Portal) with the project created.
Global library
The global library is not stored with the project created.
The system library supplied is in the installation directory of WinCC flexible, for example. Own libraries are stored under "Documents and Settings", for example, if the default path is used. In this way a global library is not migrated automatically to WinCC (TIA Portal) with the WinCC flexible configuration.
Proceed as follows to transfer a global WinCC flexible library to WinCC (TIA Portal).
Function description A new MP 277 Touch project was created for this procedure. You can also use an existing WinCC flexible configuration. The operator panel you use must support the objects etc. used in the global library.
Brief description
Open the global library in which the objects are located and which you wish to transfer to WinCC (TIA Portal).
Insert all the required objects into an existing picture or pictures.
Migrate the WinCC flexible configuration to WinCC (TIA Portal).
Open the migrated project in WinCC (TIA Portal).
Open the global library of WinCC (TIA Portal).
Insert the objects in the pictures into the global library of
WinCC (TIA Portal).
No.
Description of functions (detail)
1
Create a new project An "MP 277 Touch" project was created for this procedure. No other functions or the like are required apart from the default "Home Page".
2
Open global library of WinCC flexible
In the menu bar you select the fifth icon: "Opens a library" (Fig. 01).
The "Global Library" window opens.
Fig. 01
Select global libraries
Insert the desired global library in the "Open global library" window.
In this example we have selected the "Graphics" library in the "System Libraries" folder.
Fig. 02
Select objects
Mark an object in the global library selected (Fig. 03) and drag-and-drop it into the screen that opens (Fig. 04).
Fig. 03
Inserted objects (Fig. 04).
Fig. 04
Finally you save the whole configuration.
3
Migrate the project to WinCC (TIA Portal) Open the WinCC (TIA Portal) and migrate the WinCC flexible configuration.
A description of how to migrate a WinCC flexible project to WinCC (TIA Portal) is available in the manual in Entry ID 53385672 (Chapter 4).
4
Create new global library in WinCC (TIA Portal)
Open the migrated project in WinCC (TIA Portal).
Open the "Libraries" task card.
Select the "Global libraries" palette and click the first icon, "Create new global library", to create a new global library (Fig. 05).
A dialog box opens.
Here you enter a name and the storage path for the global library just created.
The new global library is called "WinCC flexible Objects" in this example.
Fig. 05
Copy objects from the picture(s) into the global library
Open the picture with the objects from the WinCC flexible library.
Drag-and-drop the separate objects into the global library
"WinCC flexible Objects > Master copies" (Fig. 06). Note
You can also mark multiple objects and copy them into the global library using drag-and-drop. These are then grouped together as "one" object.
Fig. 06
Save the global library
Click the third icon, "Save the changes to the library",
to save the changes/extension (Fig. 07).
Fig. 07
This completes the migration of a global WinCC flexible library to WinCC (TIA Portal).
