Part number:

This FAQ applies to the SINAMICS G120 Control Units with “-2 in the product name and SINAMICS G120C.

Discription
Some preconditions need to be considered to enable the routing connection:

  1. Use a SIMATIC S7 CPU or CP with routing capability.
  • SINAMICS G120 control units with -2 extension (CU230P-2DP, CU240B-2DP, CU240E-2DP, CU240E-2DP F) and all G120C, ET200S or ET200pro frequency converters use standardized PROFIdrive datasets for communication with the STARTER PG/PC via PROFIBUS DP or PROFINET. Most up-to-date SIMATIC S7 CPUs provide the dataset routing functionality to route dataset communication between PROFINET and PROFIBUS DP as well as between MPI and PROFIBUS or PROFINET. Please refer to the list below for more details.
  • Firmware version of these frequency converters must be ≥V4.3.2. Devices with FW V4.2 or V4.3 do not support routing functionality.
  • SINAMICS G120/G120D with FW versions <V4 use S7 communication to connect to the STARTER PG/PC via PROFIBUS DP or PROFINET. All S7 CPU/CP with PROFIBUS/PROFINET interface produced within the last years provide S7 routing functionality.
  1. Use Drive ES Basic for integration of your drives into the STEP7 hardware configuration.
  2. It is required to include the engineering PG/PC into the project network configuration

The following list includes all SIMATIC CPU / CP with integrated dataset routing functionality. Further CPUs will follow, please check release for delivery notes at Siemens customer support web site.

To be considered:

  • Use SIMATIC S7 CPUs according to the. table above to ensure dataset routing to the G120 CU2x0-2 devices
  • Check version of installed SIMATIC S7 CPU before exchange of G120 CU with FW < V4 for a new G120 CU with FW > V4. Routing to the new CU will only be possible if the S7 CPU supports dataset routing.
  • Dataset routing to ET200S or ET200pro frequency converters is possible with interface modules (IM) with CPU from V3.2 (e.g. IM151-8; see the STEP7 hardware catalogue, module - information).
