Introduction:
Here, we describe how to create a screenshot in WinCC flexible ES, WinCC flexible RT and on panels.

Create screenshot with WinCC flexible ES / WinCC flexible RT
Create screenshot on a SIMATIC panel

Create screenshot with WinCC flexible ES / WinCC flexible RT
WinCC flexible permits printing of project documentation. Using the project documentation, you can make a screenshot of each screen configured.

Instructions:
Follow the instructions in the table below to create a screenshot of the configured screens in WinCC.

No. Procedure
1 Open the required WinCC flexible project.
2 Select the menu command "Project > Print project documentation..." (can also be selected with the key combination "Ctrl+P").
3 Select the "Content" tab and then activate the "Screens" option.
Create a preview of the log selected with the button marked in red in Fig. 01. A preview of the log is then created. The preview is for creating screenshots and formatting the data.

4 Close all the windows.
5 A new folder ["Project_name"_(PRO_Documentation)] is created in the project directory. This folder contains a screenshot of each configured screen in "EMF" format.

Note:
In WinCC flexible ES and WinCC flexible RT, you can also use the normal functions of your operating system to create a screenshot. In the "Windows" operating system you simply press the "Print" key to create a screenshot. It is stored in the Windows clipboard.

Create screenshot on a SIMATIC panel
There are two ways of creating screenshots on panels:

  • Connection via Sm@rtService
  • Using the CaptCE software

More information on the topic of remote access (Sm@rtService) to a panel is available in Entry ID: 19865167.
CaptCE software allows you to create a screenshot directly from the multi panel in the form of a bitmap file.

Warning:
The use of third-party software on multi panels has not been tested and approved. Therefore, we cannot give any guarantee that third-party software, such as CaptCE, will work properly. Please note, panels only support programs which are structured on MIPS/RISC or ARM architecture.

Hardware and software requirements:

  • MP 177 6" Touch, MP27x, MP37x or Mobile Panel 277
  • USB mouse for connecting to the MP (optional)
  • ProTool V6.0 SP2 or WinCC flexible
  • CaptCE from the following link: http://oohito.com/ under the keyword "Mobile Computer Software Gallery"
  • CF/MMC/SD card
  • Microsoft ActiveSync from V3.5 with a zero model cable only for MP270/370
(for details of the cable assignment, refer to Entry ID: 29034071)
  • FTP download (see Entry ID: 26128938)

Installation of CaptCE on the multi panel

  • CaptCE software is available to download from the Internet at: http://oohito.com/mcsg/archives/category/wince

    Note:

Depending on the version of your panel, you must follow the MIPS link for MP270/370 and the relevant ARM link for MP177/277/377.
(Since this is a Japanese home page, it might be possible that not all the characters are displayed or you are prompted to install support of the font in the browser. The right menu bar is in English, so it is possible to navigate to the version of CaptCE appropriate for your panel.)

  • The CaptCE software comprises an .exe file named "CaptCE.exe". You simply have to transfer the "CaptCE.exe" file to the multi panel.

  • You can transfer the "CaptCE.exe" to the multi panel either with Microsoft Active Sync, only MP270 / MP370 (see Entry ID: 12933294) or with FTP download (see Entry ID: 26128938) or via a CF/MMC/SD card.
Refer to the relevant manual to see which cards are permitted for your panel.

  • Create a new folder in the file manager for the multi panel and copy CaptCE.exe to that folder.

  • Start the Control Panel and double-click on OP. Click the Save Registry and Save Files buttons in the Persistent Storage tab.

Creating screenshots as a bitmap file with CaptCE.exe in WinCE

  • Start the program by double-clicking on "CaptCE.exe". The program which is started is indicated in the taskbar by a "camera" icon.

Fig. 04

  • In order to create a current screenshot on the multi panel, double-click the "camera" icon. The current screen content is saved as a screenshot on the multi panel.
  • The screenshots which are created are saved directly under My Computer.

Fig. 05

  • You can transfer the screenshot to a PC either with Microsoft Active Sync (see Entry ID: 12933294) ) or via a CF card.
  • In order to close the program, press the ALT key (which is also possible on the screen keypad) and then click the camera icon on the taskbar.

Creating screenshots as a bitmap file from Runtime

  • To create a screenshot from Runtime, you can use the system function Program_start in ProTool or StartProgram in WinCC flexible in order to run "CaptCE.exe".
  • Configure a button or global key with the function Program_start or StartProgram and the parameter program name, e.g. \CaptCE\captce.exe.

Fig. 06

  • The "CaptCE" program is run the first time by simply pressing the key or clicking the button.
  • Every subsequent time you press the key or click the button, a screenshot of the current screen is created and saved on the multipanel under "My Computer".
  • You can transfer the screenshot to a PC either with Microsoft Active Sync (see Entry ID: 12933294) ) or via a CF card.
  • In order to close the program, switch to WinCE mode, press the ALT key (which is also possible on the screen keypad) and then click the camera icon on the taskbar.

Note:
Use the "PrintPicture" function to print a process image.
