AS-Interface, the open and manufacturer-independent bus system for the transmission of process- and machine-level signals, represents a universal interface between actuators and sensors on the field level to the superior control level.

The "AS-Interface Library for PCS 7" is integrated in the process control system SIMATIC PCS 7 and offers optional integration of the AS-Interface system.
This way, the advantages of AS-i such as considerably reduced wiring expenditures with distributed actuators/sensors and ease of installation can also be utilized in PCS 7-based systems.

The library comprises blocks for access to the I/O data of AS-i slaves, blocks for diagnostics of the AS-i system and a faceplate for the maintenance station of PCS 7.

The block library supports AS-i masters CP 343-2 (6GK7 343-2AH01-0XA0) and CP 343-2P (6GK7 343-2AH11-0XA0) within an ET 200M station connected via PROFIBUS as shown in the illustration below:

Both digital AS-i standard slaves as well as digital A/B slaves can be operated on the AS-i master.
