The SIMATIC PCS 7 TeleControl V7.1 system is specially designed to integrate the telecontrol outstation into the process control and engineering of the central SIMATIC PCS 7 V7.1 system. Integration into process control is enabled in the form of Operator Station in Single Station configuration, or Server (optionally redundant). The SIMATIC PCS 7 system does not require an additional automation system for preprocessing and marshalling of specific TeleControl data. The PCS 7 TeleControl Operator Station should preferably only be used for TeleControl (dedicated), but in the case of small quantity frameworks an additional second channel (double-channel operation) of the central SIMATIC PCS 7 system can be used. As far as operator control philosophy and alarm handling are concerned, there is no difference between centralized and remote automation. The data from the SIMATIC PCS 7 automation systems can be displayed on the OS Clients together with data from the outstations of the telecontrol system in one process image. The data are sourced either from a server with double-channel functionality, or from two separate servers.

The SIMATIC PCS 7 TeleControl software blocks for preprocessing and display of the data on the PCS 7 TeleControl Operator Station (Single Station/Server) are administrated in a library together with the blocks for diagnosis and communication control. These blocks support SIMATIC PCS 7 compliant operator control by means of symbols and faceplates, as well as the hierarchy of SIMATIC PCS 7 fault messages.   • Controller S7-400/S7-400F with telecontrol protocols SINAUT ST7, Modbus, IEC 870-5-101 and IEC 870-5-104; up to approx. 500 I/O signals or 5000 information points
  • Third party stations with telecontrol protocols Modbus, IEC 870-5-101 and IEC 870-5-104 (depending on station type)

SIMATIC PCS 7 TeleControl V7.1 supports SINAUT ST7 and Modbus protocols (both via serial and TCP/IP communication connections), as well as IEC 870-5-101 (serial) and IEC 870-5-104 (Ethernet TCP/IP).

The serial connection of the outstations can be implemented cost-effectively via SINAUT TIM communication modules (SINAUT ST7 telecontrol protocol) connected directly to PCS 7 TeleControl OS (Single Station or Server), or via TCP/IP serial converters (Modbus telecontrol protocol). You can use devices from MOXA or Lantronix as TCP/IP serial converters, for instance. However, the outstations can also be connected with Ethernet TCP/IP to the SIMATIC PCS 7 system bus – directly or via TCP/IP WAN router (SINAUT ST7/Modbus/IEC 870-5-104 telecontrol protocols).

The telecontrol protocols used by SIMATIC PCS 7 TeleControl for remote communication have been adapted to the conditions for remotely distributed communication infrastructure. There are many suitable transmission media for the communication between telecontrol center and outstations. In addition to classic WAN types, such as permanent lines, private radio networks, GSM mobile radio networks, analog or digital telephone networks, new systems make increasing use of TCP/IP-based WANs, e.g. DSL or GPRS over Internet or public networks and fiber-optic connections via SCALANCE X switches with optical ports (up to 120 km), for an Ethernet optimized radio network on the basis of SCALANCE W IWLAN components, etc..
Classic and TCP/IP-based WANs can also be combined within one project.

Depending on the type of WAN, the configuration of the telecontrol communication and the support by the communication protocol, different operating methods can be used. These are described in detail under SINAUT ST7 or SIPLUS RIC. 

1.2 SIPLUS RIC Bundles for outstations with
      IEC 870-5-101/IEC 870-5-104
telecontrol protocol

Cost-effective SIPLUS RIC Bundles for the telecontrol protocols IEC 870-5-101 and IEC 870-5-104 are available for the configuration of outstations based on SIMATIC ET 200S (integral CPU), SIMATIC S7-300 or SIMATIC S7-400. Our offer also includes SIPLUS RIC extreme Bundles, designed for operation under extreme conditions, e.g. ambient temperatures of -25 °C to +70 °C, condensation, or extraordinary medial loading.

SIPLUS RIC Bundles and  SIPLUS RIC extreme Bundles in general comprise: CPU, interface / communication module, memory card, CD with library, registration code. For the integration in SIMATIC PCS 7 V7.1 with SIMATIC PCS 7 TeleControl V7.1 only the SIPLUS RIC Bundles of the type "Slave" are of relevance. 1.3 SIPLUS RIC IEC on S7 library

By making use of the IEC 870-5-103 (master) protection data protocol, which is also available as library, a S7-400/S7-400H PLC can be used as converter for the SIMATIC PCS 7 TeleControl connection of SIPROTEC protection devices via IEC 870-5-101/IEC 870-5-104 protocol. The advantage compared to a PROFIBUS DP connection of the protection devices is that larger distances can be implemented and the high-precision event time stamps are transferred from the protection device to the control system.

Due to the fact that the SINAUT LSX system can coexist with the new system architecture at all levels as long as necessary, modernization can be carried out step-by-step and without any short-lived intermediate solutions.
