Validity:
This FAQ is valid for the following SIMATIC HawkEye handheld code reading systems:

  • SIMATIC HawkEye 40, 40T
  • SIMATIC HawkEye 45, 45T

Description:
The SIMATIC HawkEye 4x(T) handheld code reading system has the following interfaces:

  • USB
  • PS2
  • RS 232

To connect a SIMATIC HawkEye 4x(T) to an ET 200S you must use a handheld code reader with an RS 232 interface.

Fig. 01 shows the connections for point-to-point communication in compliance with RS 232C between the serial interface module ET 200S 1SI and a SIMATIC HawkEye 4x(T) handheld code reading system .

Fig. 01: Connections for point-to-point communication

Use an adapter cable with a 9-pin Sub-D connector. The signal wires are connected to the relevant numbered terminals on the ET 200S interface module. Use the 9-pin Sub-D connecting socket on the handheld code reading system. You only need the TXD, RXD and PE (GND) cables for communication.
