Which SIMATIC Panels have the CCC certificate?Go to beginning
Part number:

Note
The CCC certificate (China Compulsory Certification) is the obligatory Chinese certificate for various product groups, in particular for electronic products and machines. Only specific products are subject to this certification that was introduced in the People's Republic of China in 2002.

Fig. 01 - Symbol of the CCC certification

According to the current directives the CCC certificate is not required for the SIMATIC Panels, because these operator panels are not products that require certification.

The Mobic T8 is a product that requires certification. The CCC certificate for the Mobic T8 can be downloaded in Entry ID: 24022248 .

How can you determine the "E-Stand" (hardware release) of an operator panel?Go to beginning
Part number:

Description
The "E-Stand" (product release) identifies products with the same order number but with changes compared with the version as delivered. These can be upwardly compatible enhancement of functions or the use of new components.
The "E-Stand" of an operator panel is given on the rating plate (on the back of the operator panel). There are two different types of rating plate depending on the operator panel:

Fig. 01: Operator panel with "E-Stand" 1

Fig. 02: Operator panel with "E-Stand" 3

Note
The X stands for the first figure in a series and at the same time identifies the "E-Stand". In the figure X, 4, 5, 6, the X stands for the number 3 and thus means "E-Stand" 3.

The changes that lead to the product release concerned are declared in the Change handbook for products on the Support pages. Further Information: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/10805558/133200

What is the power consumption or power dissipation of the SIMATIC HMI operator panels?Go to beginning
Part number:

Description
The table below gives you an overview of the power consumption of various SIMATIC HMI operator panels.

Explanation of the calculation
With SIMATIC HMI operator panels the power dissipation is only insignificantly less than the power consumption. The values listed below for power consumption are therefore almost identical to the maximum and minimum power dissipation.
Note that these values change when IO devices (a USB mouse, for example) are connected to the operator panel. Please refer to the relevant device manuals for the power consumption of the various interfaces and the permissible range of the rated voltage.

What connections are there between the version designations in WinCC flexible?Go to beginning
Part number:

Description
Through the introduction of different new operator panels and configuration software, only specific versions of the software can be used to configure the operator panels.
Configuration of the operator panels also depends on the edition of the Engineering Software. For example, the MP377 can be configured as from WinCC flexible 2008 and only with the Standard or Advanced edition of WinCC flexible.

Fig. 01

Configuration Notes
When creating a project or changing the type of operator panel in WinCC flexible 2005 and higher, you can specify the default (current) version of the operator panel (specify the version of the operator panel).
By way of example, Fig. 02 shows an MP370 Touch version 7.1.0.0 selected for WinCC flexible 2005.

Fig. 02

Attachment 1 lists the associated versions for WinCC flexible.
The table is designed to help you identify the versions used and thus avoid version conflicts.

Attachment 1: WinCC_flexible_Version.xls ( 299 KB )

Notes
The following notes also apply for older versions of WinCC flexible.

  1. Generator, Runtime and Simulation in WinCC flexible 2008 can only be started if the new operator panel versions are set for WinCC flexible 2008.
  2. Please refer to the relevant manual for how to read out the version of your operator panel.
  3. If you use WinCC flexible 2008 to open an older project that was last saved in WinCC flexible 2007, the operator panel version is automatically changed to the current version. Information on an update of the operator panel or a PC station is available in Entry ID: 19701610.

Why is an Open Source CD supplied with the operator panel?Go to beginning
Part number:

An Open Source CD is supplied with some operator panels? Open source software is used to a certain extent in these devices.

Open Source
The source text of Open Source Software is freely accessible and should be in a human-readable form.
A CD containing this source text is thus supplied with the operator panels concerned.

The SIMATIC Panels' operating system consists also of self-developed components and therefore cannot be adapted to your own applications.

What support does Siemens AG offer to make products comply with FDA regulations?Go to beginning
Part number:

Food & Drug Administration (FDA)

FDA logo

The FDA is the USA authority for licensing drugs and is under the Ministry of Health. The FDA was founded in 1927 with headquarters in Rockville (Maryland).

The FDA's task is to protect public health in the USA. It regulates the safety and effectiveness of human and animal pharmaceuticals, biological products, medical products, food and radiating devices. The regulations apply to products produced in the USA and imported products.
The FDA is comparable in Germany with the TÜV and Ministry of Health.

Important regulation for Siemens AG products
On August 20, 1997, the FDA's rule 21 CFR Part 11 on electronic records and signatures came into force. 21 CFR Part 11 (in brief: Part 11) defines the acceptance criteria of the FDA for the use of electronic records and signatures instead of drawings in paper form and handwritten signatures on paper.

The requirements include the following:

  • Validation
  • Records of operator actions
  • Retention/Protection/Reproducibility/Retrievability
  • Access protection
  • Electronic signature (certification of equality)

Detailed information on the single products and solutions are available at the following links:

  • Information on WinCC in Entry ID: 37940022

What support does Siemens AG offer to make use of panels comply with FDA regulations?Go to beginning
Part number:

Description:
A general description on the subject of the Food and Drug Administration is available in Entry ID: 37939948.

Solutions for panels:
Panels provide the following options and solutions to fulfill the FDA regulations:

Stainless steel fronts:
Devices with stainless steel fronts have the following special features:

  • Front (stainless steel 1.4301, polyester foil)
  • Surface (brushed finish, 240 grit, EPDM gasket)
  • Optimized frame profile
  • Sloping surfaces without front-mounted USB interface
  • Rear-mounted tensioning frame

Access protection:
Access protection is ensured by the software package SIMATIC Logon (central user administration) and the local user administration.
Examples of local user administration:

  • The individual users and their assignment to user groups are defined in the WinCC flexible configuration.
  • Authorizations with authorization levels based on the user groups are defined in the user administration of WinCC flexible.
  • Password ageing is supported; you can configure the length of password validity and the number of generations.
  • The user logged on is automatically logged off by the system after a configurable period of time if there is no activity during that time.

Examples of SIMATIC Logon:

  • The administrator ensures central user administration (enabling, disabling, locking, unlocking, assigning to user groups).
  • Unique combination of user ID and password.
  • Definition of access rights for groups and users.
  • Password ageing
  • Initial password
  • The user is blocked automatically after a configurable number of failed log-on attempts and can then only be unblocked by the administrator.
  • Automatic log-off
  • Log functions

More information on the topic of SIMATIC Logon is available here.

Audit Trail:
The Audit Trail is provided by the option WinCC flexible/Audit. WinCC flexible/Audit is for monitoring operator activities in Runtime mode.
Below are examples of fulfilled requirements.

  • Process data (process values, process and operator messages, for example) is stored without the operator being able to make any changes.
  • Relevant changes made by the operator in the HMI system during operation are recorded in an Audit Trail.
  • Storage of data in a CSV file.
  • Display of evaluation by the "Audit Viewer" (can run only on PC systems).

More information on the topic of WinCC flexible/Audit is available here.

Note:
The "Audit" option can be used for operator panels as from xP270.

Electronic signature:
WinCC flexible permits users to sign actions electronically. In the Engineering phase, tags are defined and any changes made to them in Runtime must be confirmed with an electronic signature. The electronic signature may consist of entering a password and a comment. The changes are also recorded in the Audit Trail.

Note:
More information on the topic of FDA regulations is available here.
