New 2-channel high-speed analog modules with 15µs conversion time per channel are now available for applications requiring very short response times. In addition, the maximum switching frequency of the 4DO 24V/0.5A DC digital output module has been increased to 1kHz.

The new high-speed analog modules are particularly suitable for applications with very short closed-loop control times, as occur with packaging machines, presses, bottling plants, etc.. They thus complement the modules for position detection (SSI) or speed measurement and pulse counting (Count). The two IM151-1High Feature (Profibus) and IM151-3PN High Speed (PROFINET) interface modules are also available for such high-speed applications.

Compatibility and necessary components

The new high-speed analog modules and the digital output modules with increased switching frequency will replace the corresponding predecessor modules. They are compatible replacements and require no new configuration.

If the analog predecessor module is configured, the corresponding analog follow-up module will run in a compatibility mode. The improved performance values and features of the new analog modules will only be available when configured as new modules.

Replacement of the existing high-speed analog modules by new high-feature analog modules

The new analog high-feature modules are a cost-effective alternative to the existing analog high-speed analog modules. The high-feature analog modules with 0.5 ms cycle time per module permit significantly shorter sampling rates than the existing high-speed analog modules. In addition, they feature a higher resolution and better accuracy. Replacement of the existing high-speed analog modules by high-feature analog modules requires a new configuration.

The high-feature modules can be used with all ET 200S interface modules, with the exception of the IM151-3PN High Speed interface module.
