ProAgent editor cannot be seen in WinCCGo to beginning
Part number:

QUESTION:
Why can't I see the ProAgent editor in WinCC?

ANSWER:
You can't see the ProAgent editor in WinCC, because you have no STEP7 on your computer or you have installed the wrong version of STEP7. Then only the RT of ProAgent is installed.

Assignment of a block pair (FB/DB) to an S7-GRAPH step sequenceGo to beginning
Part number:

QUESTION:
How is a motion unit (FB/DB) assigned to a step sequence?

ANSWER:
In the S7-GRAPH menu under Tools -> Block Settings -> Process Diagnostics you have the option of assigning an FB/DB pair to a step sequence. The point of this assignment is to handle a motion unit (FB/DB) in ProAgent as part of a step sequence. This means that the motion unit is no longer displayed as a separate unit in the ProAgent Overview. Instead a motion icon is displayed on the assigned step sequence. When ALARM_S messages occur, a criteria analysis and error evaluation is still executed for the motion unit. The assembled unit is the basis for jumps from and to the motion unit.
So that ProAgent can evaluate the assignment correctly, you must observe the following rules:

  • A motion block may only be assigned to one step sequence.
  • Only one FB/DB pair may be assigned to a step sequence.

Note:
Several motions may be configured in a block. Furthermore, it is permissible to cascade the calls of motion blocks. In S7-GRAPH no plausibility test is run for the assignment of blocks to a step sequence. More information on configuring step sequences and motions is to be found in the manuals for S7-GRAPH and S7-PDIAG. These manuals are also available in the Internet at: http://www.ad.siemens.de/simatic-cs. From there switch to Product Support and you will find the manuals under Software / Engineering Tools / S7-GRAPH and Software / Engineering Tools / S7-PDIAG respectively.

Displaying comparators in the ProAgent standard image Go to beginning
Part number:

QUESTION:
Can I view a comparer that I have used in a network monitored with S7-PDIAG or in S7-GRAPH increments in the diagnostics images in KOP or STL in case of a failure?

ANSWER:
The comparers (CMP-Box) are displayed as "L0.0" (comparer set) in ProAgent.

Excerpts from the online help of S7-GRAPH: Analysis with O & M devices

  • Certain options packs for O & M devices allow a analysis of S7-GRAPH errors. Conditions with normally open or closed contacts can by analyzed. When using comparers, the address (=comparer set) "L0.0" is displayed. Unknown addresses are displayed as "???".

Installation of WinCC, AS OS Eng. Tool and ProAgentGo to beginning
Part number:

QUESTION:
What should I watch out for when installing WinCC V4.x, AS OS Eng. Tool V4.x and ProAgent V4.x?

ANSWER:
Pay attention to the order of installation:

  1. WinCC
  2. AS OS Engineering Tool
  3. ProAgent

WinCC Installation

  • You must install WinCC in customized mode with the options "Basic Process Control" and "Object Manager" for the generating environment of ProAgent. If you don't do this, ProAgent will not function properly.
  • When installing "Basic Process Control" in the WinCC SETUP you are prompted to install the authorization. This authorization is not needed for ProAgent. The missing license does not give a demo mode.
Generating error - Error Create Variables for ConnectionsGo to beginning
Part number:

QUESTION:
When generating, what is the cause of the error: Error Create Variables for Connections?

ANSWER:
An invalid Registry entry for the setting of the substitute character strategy of the AS-OS Engineering can lead to an error when generating with ProAgent. In this case the message "Error Creating Variables for Connections" is entered in the ProAgent diagnostics file PaGen.log. You can set the Registry entry back to a valid value if you call the AS-OS Engineering from STEP7 and start to transfer AS-OS connection data. For this, in STEP7 you call the menu Tools -> AS-OS Connection Data -> Transfer. Experienced users can also change the Registry entry manually.

You can check the Registry entry in the following path:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Siemens\STEP7\2.0\Applications\AS-OS Engineering\Settings]
"CharacterSet"=dword:00000001

If "CharacterSet" has the value 1, the character "’\" and the blank are substituted by "$". This substitute character strategy should be used for new projects.
If "CharacterSet" has the value 0, the character "’\+-*/" and the blank are substituted by "$".

This Registry setting is user-specific. If the user changes, they must be made again.

IMPORTANT
In general, no warranty can be given for direct changes in the registry database, because this is entirely the responsibility of the user. In any case it is recommended to make a backup of the registry before proceeding as described below. Furthermore, these settings are computer-specific. This means that when copying the project to another computer, the settings have to be made again.

Standstill of the progress display when generatingGo to beginning
Part number:

QUESTION:
Why is there a long standstill of the progress display when generating?

ANSWER:
As of ProAgent / WinCC version V4.5 Service Pack 1, the resolution of DB addresses in symbolic display is completely supported. This is why it can come to a long standstill of the progress display in the ProAgent editor. This behavior has been improved in subsequent versions.

Using function key F10 with an FI45Go to beginning
Part number:

QUESTION:
How can I use the function key F10 with an FI45 with ProAgent?

ANSWER:
If you use this key with an FI45 project with WinCC ProAgent, then you must install the file available here for downloading. This file contains the parameterization required.

Procedure:
Copy the WCC_FI45.EXE file into a separate directory and then start it with a double-click. Copy the extracted PAWinCC_.key file into the "...\Keyboard" directory of the FI45. Using the tool KEYLIGHT (in the \Keyboard catalog) you can activated the new Key file. For more details see the FI45 instruction manual.
