Configuration Notes:
WinCC provides you with the option of exporting project texts to have them translated "externally".

When importing these edited Excel lists, it might happen that single elements of these Excel lists, like Messages.xls, Others.xls or Screens.xls, are not imported.
The following error message is issued:
"Import completed: 1 error(s), 0 warning(s). The source language in the SIMATIC Language Support Tool cannot be found".

The reason for this very often lies in the fact changes have been to the formatting (header data) in the exported Excel files.
The "header data" must not be changed (see Fig. 01, area marked red).

Fig. 01

If you are not sure whether or not the header data has been changed, repeat the text export and compare the Excel lists with the edited Excel lists.

Notes:

  1. Another possible source of error is that texts might have been changed in column 1 (source column).
The source column contains the references required for the import. If this data is changed, it doesn't prevent import, but means that texts in the project cannot be translated.
  2. Tell your user/translator that the header data and the "source column" must not be changed at all.
