DESCRIPTION:
Now, with CP 443-1, you can work with data lengths of up to 8Kbytes via the Send/Receive interface.
For this you need the new firmware for the CP which upgrades the CP to release 7. Please read the product information text which can also be downloaded.
Major changes:
The CP can process up to 8Kbytes via the Send/Receive interface.
Interface behavior with long data lengths:
Now, users can transfer data volumes of up to 8Kbytes to the CP with one call and the CP transfers this data in messages of 400 bytes via the Industrial Ethernet.
The user interface remains the same. Simply a new block pair has to be inserted to handle the long data lengths. This block pair is supplied with the new NCM V4.02 or, in the case of existing versions of the NCM, can be downloaded as a library from the Internet.
To distinguish between them, these two blocks are named FC 50 and FC 60. Users can change their names and also integrate them into their programs as FC 5 and FC 6. These blocks have the full functionality of the previous blocks. Existing programs can therefore also work with these blocks. CPs of previous releases can also work with these blocks provided no long data is used.
Compatibility:
The following shows the compatibility of the separate versions
Old CP release, new block, data >240 bytes: error message
Old CP release, old block, data >240 bytes: error message
Old CP release, new block, data <=240 bytes: OK
Old CP release, old block, data <=240 bytes: OK
New CP release, old block, data >240 bytes: error message
New CP release, new block, data >240 bytes: OK
New CP release, new block, data <=240 bytes: OK

If you have older releases of the CPU, the CPU module will have to be upgraded. This also applies even if long data lengths are not used, because there is a change in the behavior of the module.
As opposed to the older firmware release, with firmware V3.00 and higher an ISO transport send job is no longer returned with 8302 (Remote partner has no credit), but the job runs until the partner gives credit again. This means that the send resources in the CPU remain occupied during this time. If this happens on as many S/R links as the CPU has send resources, then the send branch is also blocked for the remaining Send/Receive links.
You can remedy this by upgrading the CPU.
Upgrading existing modules
Module with original release 3 and lower
These modules can only be upgrade in factory. Contact your Siemens subsidiary for this.
Module release 5 and older
You cannot upgrade these modules using the new firmware loader that has only been integrated since release 6. The contents of the EPROM must be replaced completely which is why there is a SIM package available for the CP443-1.
The CP443-1 can be upgraded using the SIM package 276. This SIM package contains the EPROM records of the CP.
Please contact your SIEMENS subsidiary so that this SIM package can be ordered for you.
Module release 6 (firmware V2.1):
You can upgrade these modules using the firmware loader.
Proceed as follows, it is very easy:
Requirements:
PG or PC with STEP7 V3.2 or higher
+ NCM S7 for Industrial Ethernet V3.2 or higher
+ S7-1413 Win95 or SOFTNET S7 for Windows 95 with standard Ethernet card (CP 1411, CP 1511)
Setup:
Set the on-line interface of the PG to ISO.
Set to STOP all CPs that are connected to the LAN and that communicate with the CP443-1 TCP to be loaded.
Before loading, note exactly the MAC addresses of the modules to be loaded.
Starting the firmware loader:
- Win Start bar->SIMATIC->NCM S7 IE->Firmware Loader
- Use Browse ... to set load file
- Activate Download
- Set MAC address
- Press OK
- Press START
Procedure runs for about 1 minute.
Possible errors:
If the load procedure terminates with errors (all LEDs out on CP), then:
1. Switch power OFF/ON on the AS400.
2. Repeat firmware loading procedure. If the CP reacts to the loading start but doesn't terminate loading correctly, there could be a double address in the LAN or a high LAN load.
3. If the CP doesn't react to a repeated loading procedure, then repeat with MAC address:00.AF.FE.AF.FE.00
Warning: if the CP443-1 load file has been loaded into a CP343-1 ISO or CP343-1 TCP, because of an error in the MAC address, then the CP343-1 IS0 release 4 and higher and the CP343-1 TCP release 3 and higher can be loaded again with the correct firmware file. This does not apply for older releases.
Release ID:
Please change the release of the module to A7. On the front of the module is a label with the current release. This is indicated by the last figure that is checked. After successful upgrading, check the status 7. This then guarantees uniform system documentation.
We recommend the use of stickers that you can obtain free of charge via the Internet. You will receive a sheet of stickers from us for releases 2 to 15. This is a clean and straightforward method of identifying the release. We have one request: please inform us briefly of the type of environment you are using our products in. We will then send you the labels free of charge by way of saying thank you.
