Configuration Notes:
The following information applies only for the following two modules CP 443-1 Advanced:

  • 6GK7443-1EX40-0XE0
  • 6GK7443-1EX41-0XE0

In the STEP 7 configuration tool, you can use the menu function "PLC -> Edit Ethernet Node ..." to search a network for SIMATIC communication modules. The search covers Ethernet CPs, network components as well as S7 CPUs with integrated PROFINET interface. Then you can select one of these nodes. Via the "Assign IP Configuration" button you assign a new IP configuration to the module selected. This consists of:

  • IP address
  • Subnet mask
  • Default router (optional if a router is being used)

This function must be used with caution, because if you select the wrong module by mistake, communication of that module might be paralyzed. If this causes a running plant section to stop, this might have serious consequences for a production process.

Once the IP configuration has been assigned to CP443-1 EX40 CP443-1 EX41, the same message appears in each case:

Fig. 02: Message after assignment of the IP configuration

Although the message indicates successful transfer of the IP configuration, you must make a difference between the cases of the two Ethernet CPs.

  1. Behavior of CP443-1 EX40/EX41 when assigned the IP configuration in "STOP" mode of the S7 CPU

If the S7 CPU is in "STOP" mode when the IP configuration is assigned, CP443-1 EX40 and CP443-1 EX41 react in the same way, i.e. the new IP configuration is accepted directly and is thus immediately effective.

If the IP configuration is assigned with the S7 CPU in "RUN" mode, CP443-1 EX40 and CP443-1 EX41 react differently.

  2. Behavior of CP443-1 EX40 when assigned the IP configuration in "RUN" mode of the S7 CPU

If the IP configuration is assigned with the S7 CPU in "RUN" mode, a positive message is likewise display indicating that the parameters have been transferred successfully. However, CP443-1 EX40 rejects the loaded IP configuration. The IP configuration also does not become effective when the S7 CPU switches later to "STOP" mode.
The event is documented in the CP's diagnostics buffer.

  3. Behavior of CP443-1 EX41 when assigned the IP configuration in "RUN" mode of the S7 CPU

If the IP configuration is assigned with the S7 CPU in "RUN" mode, a positive message is likewise display indicating that the parameters have been transferred successfully. CP443-1 EX41 directly accepts the loaded IP configuration and it immediately becomes effective.
The event is documented in the CP's diagnostics buffer.

Note:
The CP443-1 EX41 concept is to be retained for the successor modules. Thus the setting of an IP configuration is independent of the CPU's operating mode.
