New functions
The innovated ET 200S FC frequency converter will be released with Firmware V3.0, the firmware platform of the SINAMICS G120. In addition to all of the improved functions - that have been incorporated in this firmware within the scope of the ongoing development of SINAMICS G120 - for SIMATIC ET 200S FC, three essential new functions are now available:
- The SIMATIC ET 200S FC frequency converter, as well as also the SINAMICS G120, will be addressed from the higher-level control via the Profidrive 4.0 profile. Standard telegram 1 was implemented in ET 200S FC. It is no longer necessary to use the FB100 communication block - that was previously required; this has now been completely eliminated.
- The parameters in the frequency converter can be read and written to using a data set (DS47), the non-cyclic data set communication from Profidrive 4.0. For this, the DPV1 mode must be provided in the Interface Module IM151 for PROFIBUS!
- The frequency converter can be parameterized using the Starter PC-based tool via a fieldbus. The possibility of using this "routing" via the station header depends on the IM151 interface module that is being used, which must be operated in the DPV1 mode. In general, "Routing" is not supported via the Profibus CPU station headers.

Compatibility with the IM151 interface module
The innovated ET 200S FC frequency converter has been released for operation with all the current Profibus interface modules. Routing via the ET 200S IM is only possible if the IM supports DPV1 services.

Compatibility with the previous device
The innovated SIMATIC ET 200S FC frequency converter mechanically fits on the same terminal module; however, beyond this it is not compatible with its predecessor.

- The new control modules cannot be operated together with the "old" power unit.
- The "old" control modules cannot be operated together with the new power unit.

According to Fig. 1
- When replacing "old by new" - the complete frequency converter must always be replaced - comprising control module and power unit.
- After replacing "old by new" the ET 200S station in HW Config must be re-configured.
- In addition, the control program must be adapted to the new communication interface (Profidrive instead of FB100)
The parameterization (parameter assignment) of an "old" frequency converter may not be downloaded into a new frequency converter; neither via the Starter PC-based tool nor via an MMC.
As result of this incompatibility, the ICU24/ICU24F 6SL3244-0SA0x-1AA0 control modules and the 6SL3225-0SExx-xUA2 power units are still available as spare parts.

Starter commissioning tool
The ET 200S FC frequency converter will be commissioned using Starter V4.1. SP1 (or later). The Starter V4.1 SP2 is required for operation on PROFINET.
