The behavior described in the FAQ might be caused by the following:
Case 1:
This may be due to the fact that OS users might be authorized to use NTFS drives.
In PCS 7 V6.1 SP1, the OS project may not be able to be opened properly on the OS even though the user who is logged in has Power User or Administrator authorization and is assigned to the "SIMATIC HMI" user group.
This section describes how to set NTFS drive authorization for users in PCS 7 V6.1 SP1 on the OS.

Confirm the settings with the "Apply" button and close the dialog with the "OK" button. |
Case 2:
The reason might be that the target path leads to a compressed folder.
This section describes how to check in Windows whether the target path for the folder leads to a compressed NTFS directory. You cannot use this Windows feature (compressed folder) for project folders in the PCS 7 environment. Furthermore, there is a description of how to disable this compression.

Notes:
- Notes on the Windows user authorizations are available in the WinCC information system under "Installation Notes > Installation Requirements > Defining Access Rights in the Operating System".
- From PCS 7 V7.0 and higher, the "SimaticRights.exe" tool is available for setting drive authorizations. Notes on this are available in the "PCS 7 V7.0 readme" under "Installation Notes > Installation of the software, software requirements > Change storage location for projects/multiprojects".
