What do you need to watch out for when operating SIMATIC software on SIMATIC IPC227D and IPC277D?Go to beginning
Part number:

Description
Restrictions apply to the assignment of LAN interfaces for automation networks in the SIMATIC IPC227D / 277D. Automation networks must be incorporated via the Ethernet interface X2 (marked PN/IE (LAN) X2). The use of automation protocols on Ethernet interface X1 (marked PN/IE (LAN) X1) is not permitted. Set up your system as illustrated in the example below:

Fig. 01

Note
The LAN driver V2.4.1 for the LAN interface X1 (EGT02) which is integrated in the chipset only supports TCP/IP communication and not the protocols which are required in automation technology.

Why is the UPS not recognized via USB interface when a Panel PC 477-HMI or -HMI/RTX is operating with a SITOP DC UPS module?Go to beginning
Part number:

Description:

With the pre-loaded software SIMATIC HMI WinCC Flexible 2008 WinXPe this behaviour is caused by the fact that WinCC Flexible uses a USB driver for the USB interconnection (loading of projects via USB-USB-connection).

Remedy:

The SITOP DC UPS software must be installed and the SITOP DC UPS must be connected with the PC (see Entry ID 42822724 or https://www.siemens.com/sitop). In the following table you find a description how to activate the SITOP DC UPS driver.
No. Procedere
1 Open the dialog "Run" in Windows via "Start > Run as..." and enter "devmgmt.msc". By clicking OK the device manager is opened and the driver "USB Bulk Transfer" is displayed.
2 Click on driver "USB Bulk Transfer" with the right mouse button and select "Properties" in the context menu.

Why should a SIMATIC PC not be switched on in the buffered UPS mode?Go to beginning
Part number:

Description:
A UPS protects a computer from sudden drops in supply voltage and related loss of data. The UPS immediately recognizes the loss of voltage provision and provides the computer with voltage a few milliseconds later from the built-in buffer battery. However, a UPS cannot supply the necessary switch-on current for the computer.

Remedy:
You should therefore only activate your computer when you have the required voltage/power supply.
