Instructions:
The following information only applies to S7 F-systems from V 5.1 onwards, F-library "Fail-Safe Blocks (V1_1)" and "Fail-Safe Blocks (V1_2)". This involves the fail-safe blocks F_XOUTY, F_LIM_HL, F_LIM_LL, F_SENDBO, F_RCVBO, F_SENDR and F_RCVR.

If you evaluate the outputs OUTN, QHN, QLN or SUBS_ON before first processing the fail-safe blocks after start-up (cold start or restart (warm start)), a restart resulting from a rising edge at the RESTART input of the F_SHUTDN or after a first run, it is important to watch out for the following:

The following applies, differing from the details contained in the manual on "Automation Systems S7 F/FH" (previously, S7-400F and S7-400FH Automation Systems), editions 09/2000 to 08/2004, chapter on "Fail-Safe Blocks" and in the online help for the F-blocks F_XOUTY, F_LIM_HL, F_LIM_LL, F_SENDBO, F_RCVBO, F_SENDR and F_RCVR:

  • F-block F_XOUTY: The default value for the OUTN output corresponds to the default value for the OUT output and is 0.
  • F-block: F_LIM_HL: The default value for the QHN output corresponds to the default value for the QH output and is 0.
  • F-block: F_LIM_LL: The default value for the QLN output corresponds to the default value for the QL output and is 0.
  • F-block: F_SENDBO: The default value for the SUBS_ON output is 0.
  • F-block: F_RCVBO: The default value for the SUBS_ON output is 0.
  • F-block: F_SENDR: The default value for the SUBS_ON output is 0.
  • F-block: F_RCVR: The default value for the SUBS_ON output is 0.

Following the first time the F-blocks are processed, the outputs OUTN, QHN and QLN correspond to the negated outputs OUT, QH and QL respectively, as described in the manual and in the Online Help.
