Occasionally the newer version of a
SIMATIC NET module isn't used, and an older version is shown in the
hardware catalog. For example, there is a CP342-5 in STEP 7 marked
as version 5.0, whereas the printed status corresponds to version
5.2 This is the case if the module has received a newer firmware
status but where the module functions remain unchanged.
Changes in function are reported in the product support for the
module in question under the "News" tab and through the newsletter.
