DESCRIPTION:
Attached is a new firmware for the CP 443-1 (MLFB 6GK7443-1 EX02-0XE0), which clears the error with UDP connections. Upgrading is recommended considering that the firmware can be downloaded easily via the network.

Major changes The CP 443-1 clears the following major errors:
- No short data (<240 bytes) could be sent with UDP connections. A5A5A5A5 was always incorrectly entered in the Send data. If the data was longer than 240 bytes, then this error did not occur. In this context a subsequent error occurred: in a Class A network you could no longer work with a Class B subnetwork mask.
Because of this error the CP 443-1 was not released for UDP. This restriction has now been removed with version V5.2.
When is it useful to load the new firmware? It is useful to load the new firmware if the error described above occurs.
Upgrading existing modules Only the modules described above can be upgraded with this firmware V5.2.
The modules with the MLFB 6GK7443-1EX00-0XE0 and 6GK7443-1BX00-0XE0 cannot be upgraded.
With this firmware the modules with the MLFB 6GK7443-1EX01-0XE0 and 6GK7443-1BX01-0XE0 can be converted to a CP 443-1 (MLFB 6GK7443-1EX02-0XE0). This was also possible with the firmware V5.0 and V5.1. See
Download ID 927488.
The modules upgraded in this way must then be clearly marked with a sticker. See below.
Loading the firmware:
Converting or upgrading is very easy:
Requirements: PG or PC with STEP7 V3.2 or higher
+ NCM S7 for Industrial Ethernet V3.2 or higher
+ S7-1413 Win95/98/NT or SOFTNET S7 for Windows 95/98/NT with standard Ethernet card (CP 1411, CP 1511)
Preparation: Set the online interface of the PG to ISO or CP1413<active>.
Before loading exactly note the MAC addresses of the modules to be loaded.
Starting the FW loader:
- Win Start bar -> Simatic -> NCM S7 IE -> Firmware loader
- With Browse... Set load file
- Press Download
- Set MAC address
- Press OK
- Press Start
Process runs for about 1 minute.
Possible errors: If loading terminates with an error (all LEDs on the CP off), then:
- Switch power supply on AS400 off/on or remove/plug CP.
- Repeat firmware loading. If the CP reacts to the load start but doesn't terminate correctly, there might be a double addressing on the LAN or the LAN load is too high.
- If the CP does not react to repeating the loading process, then repeat with the MAC address 00.AF.FE.AF.FE.00.
Warning:
If the CP443-1 load file has been loaded into a CP343-1 ISO or CP343-1 TCP, because an incorrect MAC address has been set, then the CP343-1 ISO as of release 4 and the CP343-1 TCP as of release 4 can be reloaded with the correct firmware load file. This does apply to older releases.
Identification of the release:
If an conversion from ...-BX01/-EX01 to ...-EX02 is concerned, we strongly recommend ordering labels under "SIM Package 298" from the appropriate Siemens subsidiary and identifying the firmware release accordingly. In the case of an upgrade, the firmware version V5.2.0 must be indicated on the outside.
