Teleprogramming via PROFIBUS with STEP 5 (PG BUS functions)
Part number:

QUESTION:
Which settings do I have to make in order to operate STEP 5 teleprogramming via PROFIBUS?

ANSWER:
The following requirements have to be met for teleprogramming in STEP 5 via PROFIBUS. A distinction is made here between the hardware platforms used:

  • Computer with PCI slot(s)
  • Computer with ISA slot(s)
  • Laptop (Notebook or Field PG) with PCMCIA slot(s)

A. Using a computer with PCI slot(s)

  1. You need a CP 5613/5614 in your computer.
  2. Install the "CP5613/CP5614" software from the SIMATIC NET CD.
  • up to 05/2000: CP5613/CP5614 software V 2.1 (Windows NT 4.0/2000 Pro)
  • as of 07/2001: CP5613/CP5614 software V 6.x (depending on SP of Windows platform concerned)
  1. Open the Control Panel via Start > Settings > Control Panel and double-click on the "Set PG/PC Interface" icon.

Fig. 1: Selecting the access point

  1. Set the access point "CP_L2_1:" to "CP5613_5614 (PROFIBUS)".
  2. Start STEP 5. Open the Settings selection mask via File > Project > Set  in the PLC tab.

Fig. 2: STEP 5 selection mask "Set > Interface"

  1. Under "Interface" you select "PROFIBUS (Sinec L2)".

B. Using a computer with ISA slot(s)

  1. You need a CP 5412-A2 in your computer.
  2. Install the software "PG-5412" from the SIMATIC NET CD.
  3. Open the Control Panel via Start > Settings > Control Panel and double-click on the "Set PG/PC Interface" icon.
  4. Set the access point "CP_L2_1:" to "CP5412 (PROFIBUS)".
  5. Now start STEP 5.
  6. Under Settings you now select "Sinec L2 interface".

Warning:
Make sure that the PROFIBUS parameters of the network match those of the CP.

Note:
If the access points are not available under "Access Point of the Application" in the Set PG/PC Interface window, then you can add them manually. Specify the access point exactly as described in Point 4. Do not forget to specify the colon.

C. Using a laptop (Notebook or Field PG) with PCMCIA interface

A detailed description of the procedure for this is available in Entry ID: 9831395.
