QUESTION:
Can a digital output module with a nominal current of e.g. 0,5A be loaded in the range of the threshold value of the short circuit protection (0,7 to 1,8A)?

ANSWER:
Power monitoring is done thermic. The reached value - except for the circuit allowance - depends on the slope control speed and the temperature, which increases rapidly for a power supply of more than 0.5A. The module can only temporarily be loaded with an slope increase between 0.5 to about 1.7A without activating the thermal monitoring.

Note:
While activating the thermal monitoring the module will not be damaged.
