The sway control system SIMOCRANE SC integrated V2.0 HF3 based on SIMOTION D is a software solution for crane sway control through to automation, both for container cranes and ship unloaders (gripper cranes). This software is included in the SIMOCRANE Advanced Technology based on the SIMOCRANE Basic Technology.

In general, every acceleration or deceleration of a crane causes load oscillations. The electronic SIMOCRANE sway control system ensures that these load oscillations are eliminated so that the crane can be quickly and safely transported without damaging the goods transported. On the gripper crane (GSU), the sway control system ensures that the gripper oscillation is fully used when unloading bulk goods, thus reducing handling times.

Depending on the task to be fulfilled and the ambient conditions, you can use sway control systems with or without camera systems. When using a camera, this serves as an observer that detects any deviations from the ideal oscillatory behavior depending on the relevant situation. Thus, oscillations caused by external forces such as diagonal pull or wind can be largely compensated. For container cranes (STS), we recommend that you use a camera. Due to the high dust formation, gripper cranes (GSU) are usually not equipped with a camera. When using a camera system, you additionally require a reflector which is attached to the load carrier (spreader). The selection of the lens and reflector depends on the crane lifting height.
