With immediate effect, the product Drive ES Basic V5.5 has been released for delivery.
This has been revised and enhanced due to the market launch of STEP7 V5.5, the support for the
operating system Windows 7 as well as an update of the integrated STARTER commissioning tool to Version V4.2.

With immediate effect, the product Drive ES Basic V5.5 has been released for delivery.
This has been revised and enhanced due to the market launch of STEP7 V5.5, the support for the
operating system Windows 7 as well as an update of the integrated STARTER commissioning tool to Version V4.2.


The following individual innovations have been made in the V5.5 compared to the previous version V5.4 SP5:

• Support for the operating system Windows 7 (32 Bit) in the versions Professional and Ultimate
• Fully compatible with STEP7 V5.5
• Starter Version V4.2, the commissioning tool for SINAMICS and MICROMASTER 4th Generation, has been integrated.
• Communication to SINAMICS G120 drives with CU2xx-2 also supported via USB (native)
• SimoCom A Version V 05.02.01, the tool for the POSMO A, has been integrated.
• SimoCom U Version V 13.01.03, the tool for the SIMODRIVE 611U and POSMO CA/CD/SI, has been integrated.
• DriveMonitor Version V5.4 SP3, the tool for MASTERDRIVES and SIMOREG, has been integrated. (unchanged)
   

Benefits provided by a Drive ES Basic installation compared to the installation of individual tools:

• Benefits provided compared to all single tools (STARTER Stand alone, SIMOCOM U/A and DriveMonitor)
  • More convenient integration of the drives in the hardware configuration of SIMATIC S7 via
    object manager (SlaveOM and DeviceOM) instead of GSD files
  • Communication can also be set up beyond network boundaries by routing in the SIMATIC and SIMOTION stations.
    Without Drive ES, the individual tools can only communicate with drives that are connected to the same subnet
    (PROFIBUS, PROFINET) as the engineering PC/PG.

  • The tools can be directly called up in a context-sensitive manner from the SIMATIC Manager.
    All the necessary network information is automatically transferred for routing.

  • Direct communication via PROFIBUS
    Without Drive ES, the DriveMonitor can only communicate with the drives via USS protocol via a serial interface

Routing notes:

Routing-capable modules support routing to the drives beyond network boundaries.

• Routing in combination with SIMOTION:
  All SIMOTION modules support the functionality "Routing/S7-Routing", but not the functionality "Data record routing".
  Thus, new G120 devices cannot be reached via routing with a CU2xx-2 behind a SIMOTION.
• Routing in combination with SIMATIC S7:
  The "S7 routing-capable" SIMATIC modules are listed in the article ID 584459 or directly in the hardware catalog of the STEP7 hardware configuration.
  For routing to the new G120 devices with CU2xx-2, you require SIMATIC modules which, additionally to S7-Routing, also support the functionality "Data record routing".

With this delivery release, all orders placed for the Version V5.5 will be delivered. The price remains unchanged compared to the previous versions.

For users who have already purchased a Drive ES Basic V5.x version!
They can order the upgrade version which is offered at a significantly lower price than the full version. 
Due to limited memory space, you cannot download the complete Drive ES Basic DVD V5.5.
This can only be ordered via the upgrade version which is offered at a significantly lower price than the full version. 

For users who have subscribed to the Software Update Service 6SW1700-0JA00-0AB2 resp. 6SW1700-0JA00-1AB2!
Users who have already subscribed to the Software Update Service will automatically receive the new version.

Note:
In Version V5.5 (or later), Drive ES Basic is only provided as a mere option package for SIMATIC STEP7, that means the Drive ES Basic V5.5 (or later) can only be installed additionally to an already installed STEP7 full version.
The procedure remains the same for SIMATIC-S7 users.

The Version V5.5 can, however, no longer be used with a STEP7 independent stand-alone installation.
The stand-alone installation is no longer supported as from the Drive ES Basic Version V5.5.

Product cancellation for the product Drive ES Basic V5.3

Upon release of the new Version V5.5, all previous versions are discontinued and phased out.
This means that the ordered units affected are no longer listed in the catalog, but will still be delivered as a spare part for approx. one year:
