Configuration Notes:
The message blocks which are displayed in WinCC Alarm Control in Runtime are configured by default in the "Alarm Logging" Editor.

Fig. 01

If you insert an Alarm Control into a WinCC screen, the Alarm Logging settings are applied for displaying the message blocks.

Double-click on the Alarm Control in the Graphics Designer to open the "WinCC Alarm Control Properties" dialog. In the Message Blocks tab, you can define message block properties which differ from the Alarm Logging settings.

Under "Apply project settings", the "Column width" option relates to the length of a message block in characters. The "Column properties" option relates to all the other properties of a message block ("Name", "Alignment" and "Flash On").
In this respect please also refer to Entry ID 23998468. This entry provides notes on multilingual configuring of the WinCC Alarm Control.

The table below describes the possible combinations and the effects of these two checkboxes.

For WinCC V6.0 (up to SP3)

No. Description
1 "Column properties" enabled, "Column width" enabled
If both options are enabled, the Alarm Control applies the "Alarm Logging" editor's settings for the column width and the other message block properties.

Warning:
It is still possible to change the message block properties. In this case, they are stored centrally in the Alarm Logging. This means that you can change the Alarm Logging settings by working in the Graphics Designer.

2 "Column properties" enabled, "Column width" disabled
If only the "Column properties" option is enabled, the column width is set by dragging with the mouse directly in the Alarm Control in the Graphics Designer. The Alarm Logging settings are applied for the other message block properties.

Note:
In order to change the column widths of the message blocks which are shown in the Alarm Control by dragging with the mouse, press and hold the "CTRL" key and double-click on the Alarm Control in the Graphics Designer. The Alarm Control toolbar is enabled. Click on the "Autoscroll" button. If you then move the mouse pointer over the column titles and the mouse pointer changes, press and hold the left mouse button and then you can change the column width with the mouse. Detailed information is available in Entry ID 11514894.

3 "Column properties" disabled
If the "Column width" option is disabled, the Alarm Control applies the Alarm Logging settings. The column width is set by dragging with the mouse directly in the Alarm Control in the Graphics Designer. You define all the other message block properties in the "Message Blocks" tab.
