The PDF document below gives the colors of the SIMATIC Panels and SIMATIC Panel PCs.
Product information This entry contains all the SIMATIC HMI panels that have an FM certificate for the explosion protection standard. The FM certification is valid exclusively for North America.
Note
In Europe, the explosion protection guidelines in compliance withATEX are valid. More information on the panels that Siemens currently provides with ATEX certification is available in Entry ID: 291285.
Pay attention to the explosion protection ID on the back of the device before installing the panels. Panels mentioned in the certificate should not be used automatically in the hazardous areas with potentially explosive atmosphere. What counts here is the ID on the back of the device.
1. Information on FM certification
The classification of the explosion protection in the NEC (National Electric Code) is standard in the United States of America and that in the CEC (Canadian Electric Code) in Canada.
The hazardous areas/divisions with potentially explosive atmosphere are defined in the NEC 500. In addition, in the NEC 505, the hazardous areas with potentially explosive atmosphere are divided into zones in the same way as in ATEX and have practically identical types of protection. The specifications in the NEC 500 regulate conventional Ex classification (Class Division Model) and include the classification of the new zone model that is based on regulations in Europe and the IEC. Based on this, testing organizations like FM (and FMRC - Factory Mutual Research Corporation) create their own sets of standards.
2. Current HMI panels with FM certificate The following panels have been tested in compliance with the FM certification NI Class I, Division 2, Group ABCD and Class I, Zone 2, Group IIC.
Note
Details about FM certification are available in the relevant certificates.
The panels in the following table are sold by Siemens (as at 05/2009).
3. Discontinued HMI panels with FM certificate The following panels have been tested in compliance with the FM certification NI Class I, Division 2, Group ABCD and Class I, Zone 2, Group IIC.
Note
Details about FM certification are available in the relevant certificates.
The panels in the following table are discontinued and cannot be ordered any more.
4. Explanation of terms In the following, we briefly explain only the relevant designations.
Nonincendive (NI) This type of protection is provided specially for Division 2 and specifies that during normal operation no sparks and no hot surface temperatures are generated. The type of protection is comparable with the type of protection "n" in compliance with EN 50021.
Class I, Division 2 (NEC 500) Areas where dangerous concentrations of flammable gases or vapors do not exist under normal operating conditions.
Class I, Zone 2 (NEC 505)
Areas where dangerous concentrations of flammable gases or vapors do not exist under normal operating conditions.
Group A, B, C, D (NEC 500) The division into "Groups" refers to the hazardous materials:
A = Air/gas mixture with acetylene
B = Air/gas mixture with hydrogen
C = Air/gas mixture with ethylene
D = Air/gas mixture with propane
Group IIC (NEC 505) The division of the "Group" (NEC 505) is equivalent to the explosion group in the ATEX guidelines. Hydrogen is defined as a typical gas in explosion group IIC.
Temperature classes T*
There are six different temperature classes that are specified in detail in compliance with NEC 500-3. The temperature class includes the highest permitted surface temperature of the apparatus and provides information on the ignition temperatures of the inflammable materials.

Description The "E-Stand" (product release) identifies products with the same order number but with changes compared with the version as delivered. These can be upwardly compatible enhancement of functions or the use of new components. The "E-Stand" of an operator panel is given on the rating plate (on the back of the operator panel). There are two different types of rating plate depending on the operator panel:
Fig. 01: Operator panel with "E-Stand" 1
Fig. 02: Operator panel with "E-Stand" 3
Note
The X stands for the first figure in a series and at the same time identifies the "E-Stand". In the figure X, 4, 5, 6, the X stands for the number 3 and thus means "E-Stand" 3.
Explanation of the calculation
With SIMATIC HMI operator panels the power dissipation is only insignificantly less than the power consumption. The values listed below for power consumption are therefore almost identical to the maximum and minimum power dissipation.
Note that these values change when IO devices (a USB mouse, for example) are connected to the operator panel. Please refer to the relevant device manuals for the power consumption of the various interfaces and the permissible range of the rated voltage.

QUESTION:
Why does my MP270 project file (*.fwd file) have different sizes after generation with different ProTool versions?
ANSWER:
You save your ProTool project with ProTool V5.1. After generation of the project with ProTool V5.2 the project file (*.fwd file) is a great deal larger. If you generate the project on another computer with ProTool V5.2, then the project file is smaller.
Cause of the different project sizes:
Different settings for the color depth of the different computers.
The "Screening with error scattering" setting in Properties of the individual graphics.
The projects become very large if the color depth is set to 16 bits and the graphics have the property "Screening with error scattering". In this case an attempt is made to generate the color configured. If this is not possible, then screened colors are generated for the colors concerned.
Remedy:
Set a color depth of 24 bits on the configuration computer or
In the Properties dialog of each graphic change the color adaptation from "Screening with error scattering" to "Similar color". You should only select the "Screening with error scattering" setting for photos in order to display the photos as true to color as possible.
Product note: The option exists to fit a protective cover on some panels. This protective cover allows the panel to be used in very difficult environments where the front of the panel is exposed to mechanical and physical forces, which may have a damaging effect on it.
