How do you migrate a ProTool project with SIMOTION CPU connection to a WinCC flexible project and SIMOTION SCOUT?Go to beginning
Part number:

Instructions:
Below is the procedure for migrating/converting old SIMOTION SCOUT projects with integrated ProTool projects.

  1. First, open the SIMOTION project with the SIMOTION SCOUT.
  2. In the case of projects created with an older version of SIMOTION SCOUT, you must convert the SIMOTION SCOUT project to the latest version of SIMOTION SCOUT.
  3. Save and then close the SIMOTION project.
  4. Now start WinCC flexible.
  5. Select the "Open ProTool Project" menu and select the
    STEP 7 icon "Integrated".
  6.  Navigate to the integrated ProTool project and click on Open.
  7. The ProTool migration wizard starts and guides you through migration of the
    ProTool project to WinCC flexible.
  8. Upon completion of the migration the resulting WinCC flexible project opens. Save the project and close WinCC flexible.
  9. Now, in the Hardware Config or NetPro, you must network the WinCC flexible project again with the SIMOTION controller.
Note that now the both the new WinCC flexible station and the ProTool Station are in your project.
If the new WinCC flexible station is to have the same address as the ProTool station previously used, then you must first change/remove the address of the ProTool station before you can assign that address to the WinCC flexible station.

ProTool projects integrated in PC stations:
ProTool projects integrated in PC stations cannot be migrated automatically to PC stations. A new HMI PC station is created upon migration.

In this case, follow the steps below:

  1. Insert WinCC flexible RT from the hardware catalog into the PC station (P350) and save the project in the Hardware Config.
Migration and insertion of WinCC flexible RT produces 2 HMI projects (migrated and empty) in a STEP 7 project.
  2. Open/start WinCC flexible and the empty project.
  3. Open the migrated HMI project and the mark the HMI device and copy using "Copy" in the pop-up menu.
  4. Switch to the previous WinCC flexible project.
Mark the HMI device in the project navigator and use the "Replace" pop-up menu to insert the HMI device from the clipboard into the empty project.
  5. It might be necessary to reselect the P350 station in the current connection settings, i.e. delete the present station and reselect it.

Which version of Image of the relevant operator panels can be used for the corresponding version of ProTool?Go to beginning
Part number:

Configuration Notes:
When configuring Windows-based operator panels with ProTool, only one specific version of Image of the relevant operator panel can be used, regardless of the version of ProTool.

The version specification in the name of the Image file (e.g. "MP370_V6_2.img") abstracts the version of ProTool. The exact version of the Image can be determined with ProSave or PTUpdate - see Fig. 01.

The table "ProTool_Image_Versions_e.pdf" lists matching versions for ProTool. The table is designed to help you identify the versions used and thus avoid version conflicts.

Converting old configurations to Runtime - Procedure for ProTool versions prior to V6.0 Go to beginning
Part number:

QUESTION:
How can a configuration of an Operator Panel that supports graphics be converted for a Windows-based ProTool/Pro runtime?

ANSWER:
The conversion of OP projects for ProTool/Pro Runtime requires several steps (for this, ProTool V6.0 has the function funktion Convert).
Changes have been made to ProTool/Pro Runtime compared with the OP that supports graphics in order to simplify configuration and make communications to all controllers uniform, and these changes may have to be revised. Furthermore, the ProTool/Pro runtime uses Windows resources, e.g. standard printer, so that changes compared with previous configurations are also of significance here.
It is in principle possible to transfer objects from previous OP configurations.
The things that have to be adapted for the ProTool/Pro runtime include in particular images originating from the OP standard configurations. For this there are new, configurable image objects available. For example, a single StatusVar/ControlVar image object can replace the complex configuration of input/output fields with linked special functions for StatusVar and ControlVar.

QUESTION:
I want to open a configuration made with Pro Tool V1.x with a more recent Pro Tool software. What must I watch out for?

ANSWER:
A configuration made with Pro Tool version V2.0 or higher only has one PDB file.
If you have created a configuration with Pro Tool Version 1.x then an additional folder is created for the PDB file bearing the same name.
If you now open the configuration made with Pro Tool V1.x under, for example, Pro Tool Version 2.51, then the PDB and the folder with the same name must be available.

What changes do you have to make in the configuration after replacing the OP/TP 25/35 by an OP/TP 27/37 in a connection with the SIMATIC S5 via PROFIBUS DP?Go to beginning
Part number:

Instructions:
After replacing an OP/TP 25/35 with an OP/TP 27/37 you must make some changes to the configuration in the case of a connection with the SIMATIC S5 via PROFIBUS DP.

  • On the OP side the ProTool configuration has to be adapted to the new device.
  • On the S5 side - IM308C: in COM PROFIBUS you must load the drivers for the new device.
  • On the S5 side: there is no need to make any changes in the CPU.

The changes are described in the following example of replacing an OP25 by an OP27.

No. Procedure
1 Changes on the OP side:
The project for the OP25 has to be adapted for the replacement device OP27. If the OP25 project is open, you can make the changes using the ProTool function "Convert". Start the conversion via "File > Convert > Start...".

Fig. 01

2 Select the OP27 as target device and enter a name for the project to be created.

What changes are necessary when a WF470 is replaced by an MP270 Touch in an S5 controller?Go to beginning
Part number:

Configuration Notes:

  • The blocks used for WF470 must be removed completely.
  • The pictures and functions configured for WF470 cannot be migrated and must be created anew for the MP270.
  • The MP270 can be connected to the AS511 without any additional blocks in the S5.

Note:
In the case of SIMATIC S5 PLCs it is also possible to make the connection to the multipanel MP270 also via the PROFIBUS interface module IM308C.
In the S5 you need driver blocks.
